3MTM NOVECTM 1230 FIRE PROTECTION FLUID is a next-generation halon alternative offering outstanding performance, large margin of safety and excellent enviromental profile.
- Zero ozone depletion potential
- A global warming potential of 1
- 5-day atmosferic lifetime
- A large margin of safety for occupied spaces
Novec 1230 fluid offera a unigue combination of safety, low enviromental impact and extinguishing performance, making it first halon replacement to offer a viable, long-term sustainable technology for special hazards fire protection Novec 1230 applies as a gas, but is a liquid in room temperature. It electrically non-conductive in both liquid and gaseous states.
Novec 1230 has a very low heat of vapourization, approximately 25 times less then that of water. This along with a higher vapor pressure causes Novec 1230 to evaporate 50 times faster then water. This allows the agent to transition from liquid to gaseous state very rapidly when discharged through the nozzle. In a properly designed system, Novec 1230 fluid will rapidly vaporize and evenly distribute throughout the protected space.
Although Novec 1230 is a liquid at room temperature, its vapor pressure is sufficient for the agent to readily achieve vapor extinguishing concentrations in air. At 25 Co, one could form vapor concentrations with Novec 1230 up to 30 volume persent prior to reaching saturation. Typical fire supression design concentrations for the most of applications is within 4 to 6 percent range by volume of protected area. That large differential between design and saturation concentrations dictates that condensation of vapor will not occur.
The repeat of Novec 1230 has been throughly evaluated through both acute and repeat dose toxity testing. The No observable effect level (NOAEL) for any end point of acute toxity has been determined to be 10 volume percent in air. Typical design concentrations of fire protection systems of in range 4.2 to 5.9 volume percent result in safety margins of 67 to 150 percent.

| NOAEL | 10% | 5% | 7,5% | 9% |
| Safety margin | 67-150% | No | No | 3-20% |
With more then a 100 years of Fire protection expertiese Minimax offers wide range of Fire supression systems: MX-1230 - the System using Novec 1230 as distinguishing agent is approved and standatised by most of local and foreign agencies.
